I will be building the roundhouse with 12 stalls so I need the base kit and 3 add-on kits.
March 19 2018 - Starting to build the roundhouse. I am building Walthers Modern Roundhouse (3 stalls) plus 3 Roundhouse Additions (9 stalls) for a total of 12 stalls.
The 4 main side wall pieces are all warped (probably from being in the box for 3+ years). The good news is they are warped mirror image and I'm hoping they will straighten out when I glue the two sides together.
After/Before the white 'grout' wash of the painted brick wall. I used an offwhite acrylic craft paint thinned with water to do the wash.
Gluing the outside/inside walls.
Gluing the back wall sections.
I had to get creative to hold the wall sections together while waiting for the glue to cure.
Installing the front door frames and doors was a PITA because I needed three small hands to hold the three parts in order to get the door pins lined up. But then I used blue painters tape to hold the doors in place and it became much easier.
I am not detailing or lighting the interior so I am not going to install the inspection pits. Therefore I painted flat black under where the inspection pit 'holes' are in the roundhouse base.
Painting the exhaust smokestacks.
Weathering the exhaust smokestacks.
Weathering the roof. I the roof sections into six groups of 6 to make them easier to deal with. I used 0.10"x0.04" polystyrene strips to cover the seams between the roof panels.
